THE CORRELATION OF SOCIAL BONDS WITH WORK IN A CONTEXT OF COLLECTIVE DISASTER ENVIRONMENTAL

Abstract

ABSTRACT: The family is the individual's first socialization environment, which lifelong develops alternative bonds in friendships and other social groups. Such relationships are shown to have an impact on all aspects of life and, among them, the experience of the world of work. In particular, this relationship can be further affected by stressors, for example, exposure to environmental disasters. This study aims to verify the relationship between the level of involvement at work and the level of support from social and family environments in situations of stress from an environmental disaster. Two scales developed by the researchers were used, the Social-Family Bond Scale (EVSF) and the Work Involvement Scale (EET). As a result, through Sperman's Rho correlation analyzes between the scales, a positive and weak correlation was observed at the level of r = 0.26. Therefore, the initial hypothesis is partially corroborated, considering that people with stronger and longer-term relationships have greater involvement with work. It is concluded that the present study has limitations but could support psychosocial intervention strategies in communities in a disaster or emergency.
