CUIDADO, ENVELHECIMENTO E RACIALIZAÇÃO: REFLEXÕES DE UM GRUPO DE MULHERES NO CRAS

Abstract

The attribution of care work to women is a notorious aspect of industrialized societies, so that, even if they start to occupy public spaces, their responsibilities increase, especially with regard to domestic responsibilities. Therefore, it becomes relevant to identify how the care duties show up in the experiences shared by the participants of a group of women in a CRAS, seeking to analyze how this group practice constitutes itself as a possibility of elaboration and transformation regarding the exercise of care. The data produced in the research were subjected to analysis by meaning cores in which the evidence and frequency of the theme of care work in debates at group meetings was observed. Given this, it was possible to focus on the developments of this topic brought up by the participants. It is clear that home responsibilities and care for family members are linked to the social roles attributed to women. Furthermore, the topic of care work is permeated by the challenges of the aging process experienced by women, revealing a lack of initiatives and services that aim to support women in caring for their own aging and that of other family members. It is also notable that the articulations of race and gender oppression, in addition to issues of social class, cause poor black women to have even more precarious working conditions. Finally, it is understood that the development of group practices has potential in terms of mobilizing discussions, building critical thinking about the lived reality and opening up to the possibility of social transformations.
