REFLECTIONS UPON THE CONFLICT WITH THE LAW IN ADOLESCENTS: EXCLUDING CONTEXTS, “INVISIBLE” FAMILIES

Abstract

Bearing in mind the context of invisibility to which many families are exposed, this study aimed to reflect on characteristics of the public assisted by an institution of socio-educational measure of internment for youngsters in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. In order to achieve the objectives of this qualitative research, there were conducted ten semi-structured interviews, which were taken with five adolescents and five family members of those teenagers. There were also accessed their reports on the institution, so that data was added-on with a documental source. Data analysis enunciates similarities in these family experiences such as: slum residences; jobs of low income; families with number of children superior to fertility rate; low schooling; teenage pregnancy. Therefore, there is perceived that those families live with sufferings and vulnerabilities, but, overall, obstacles must be overcome through the strengthening of their bonds.
