The role of the proofreader: injunctions regarding the preservation of the linguistic materiality

Abstract

This paper aims to reflect upon the role of the proofreader, focusing on the proofreading of literature. It was considered the relation between the professionals involved in the process of the production of the text in its translated form: translator and proofreader, in order to ponder the preservation of the linguistic materiality of the original text regarding translation as a cognitive creative process and injunctions that fall upon proofreader’s work.
