INTERTEXTUAL RELATIONSHIPS IN TRANSLATED AND ADAPTED TEXTS FOR THE DUBBING OF AUDIOVISUAL PRODUCTIONS IN BRAZILIAN PORTUGUESE

The present study aims to observe the intertextual relations in texts translated and adapted for the dubbing of audiovisual productions in Brazilian Portuguese, identifying and analyzing them, in order to understand how they are realized in a text translated into another language and presented to a new audience. We also tried to understand how certain cultural references are transposed in the process of translation and adaptation, and, mainly, what new relationships this transposition can establish, because, as discussed by Freitas (2008), in the process of translating a text, intertextual elements can be lost, but new elements can also be acquired. Thus, we chose the dubbing genre because it has even more limitations, which go beyond just a translation process. Therefore, some scenes from the films The Emperor's New Groove (2000) and White Chicks (2004) were analyzed, in which we sought to describe the intertextual processes and their functioning in the text, as well as to establish a brief comparison with the original text. In this work, we take translation as an intertextual process, by which a new text is created from another, and which fits the proposal of hypertextuality brought by Genette (2010). As a theoretical basis, we used the works of Freitas (2008) and Sanchis (2020), for a presentation of the particularities of the dubbing genre, Volochínov (2006) and Fiorin (2006), for an understanding of the concepts of discourse, text, interdiscursivity and intertextuality, and the assertions of Koch, Bentes and Cavalcante (2007) and Genette (2010) about the concept of transtextualities, focusing on the notions of hypertextuality, allusion and reference.
