Abstract

At a time when the eyes of the world are fixed on a long and surprising conflict which is shaking Europe, we are all called upon to look carefully at the events and make a reading of them. We are witnessing something which, even if it is surprising to us, is far from being new; it is just another chapter in the history of humanity in which we are checking the repetition of a kind of 'convention of war'. The impulse of the strongest to subjugate the weakest, the fragility of the motives triggering the conflict, the means involved, the role of leadership, the emotions and values at stake, are recognizable factors in all conflicts that have shaken the planet since the Trojan War, as a kind of eternal paradigm
