Abstract

What defines a slave society is not just the existence of slave workers, but the influence of slave labor on the production of goods and values in that society. In this way, it is possible to state that slave labor presents itself as a social relationship of economic production and despite having been present in all societies, from the oldest to the most modern, to obtain an understanding of slavery today, it is It is necessary to break with this idea associated with the historical moment prior to the abolition of slavery in Brazil, as well as with the historical forms in countries that lived with slavery, that is, it is not possible to think about slave labor in (hyper)modernity with the categories of historical slavery, therefore, the study works with neo-slavery. Therefore, this article will provide an overview of the history of slavery in the country and the world in order to arrive at the neo-slavery in hypermodern times defended by the Frenchman Gilles Lipovetsky, who preaches that society today has become individualistic and focused on the present, ignoring the idea that rampant consumerism dictates rules and values in search of the “always new”. The present study is relevant because contemporary slave labor is now analyzed in the relationship of forces that is established within the capitalist system. Furthermore, with technological advances, digital slavery becomes a current problem that must be discussed. Through extensive bibliographical research on the topic, a critical analysis will be made of the current digital slavery.
