Code of Ethics

Virtuajus - Undergraduate Journal of the Pontifical Catholic University of Minas Gerais' Law School - is a diffuser of legal knowledge in an interdisciplinary manner. The priority topics for editing and publication are defined by the Editorial Policy Commission, composed of the Journal's Managing Editor, Associate Editors and the Editorial Commission. Its task is to discuss, write and approve the Editorial Policy, in accordance with the scope, proposal and vocation of PUC Minas, which provides ethical and scientific support to the Journal. The Journal has also an Editorial Board, whose members are of national and international residence, composed of renowned researchers in the area and subareas published by it, which ensure the credibility of the Journal in its specific responsibilities as set by PUC Minas.

VirtuaJus considers ethical principles of extreme importance in the editorial process. In the submission conditions, the originality of the text is verified using search softwares to identify plagiarism, as well as the veracity of the data informed and assumed in the submission.

Among the ethical values, theoretical coherence, textual honesty, academic autonomy of authors and evaluators are safeguarded.

In the editorial process, all those involved must emphasize the scientific principles and objectivity, critical attitude, rationality and the search for impartiality, as well as the ethical values of cordiality and mutual respect.

The ethical elements of publication in Virtuajus are present in “Conditions for submission”.

They are also in the guidelines indicated in the “Peer Review Process”.

VirtuaJus also expresses its "ethics of publication" in the “Copyright Notice” and through the “Creative Commons License”.

Following the SciELO model, VirtuaJus deals with ethical problems of a scientific article or published text, for example, plagiarism and problems of authorship or non-originality, in the form of "Retraction".

The standard of VirtuaJus, according to this model, is to present the text of the retraction by those responsible, with their reasons and then the complete original text, maintaining the same distribution of pages and, in the summary, starting the title with the expression “[Retracted Article]”. The PDF of the article must have tags in the background with the expression “Retracted article”. This process must go through the team of editors, the Editorial Commission and the endorsement of at least three members of the Editorial Board.
