  • The text follows the requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

General Conditions:

1) Articles are exclusively received via the submission system. They can be submitted by authors at any time, with occasional calls for themed issues with specific deadlines. After technical approval in the initial screening, the works will be forwarded to ad-hoc reviewers (professors affiliated with the main universities in the country and abroad).

2) The following types of works will be accepted for consideration:

- Research articles presenting new contributions related to various thematic areas of Architecture and Urbanism;
- Articles related to teaching experiences in Architecture and Urbanism;
- Architectural and Urbanism designs, discussed theoretically and methodologically;
- Interviews;
- Reviews of books, audiovisual productions, and artistic works of significant importance to Architecture and Urbanism.

3) Only unpublished works not yet published in any printed or digital media will be accepted. By submitting their work, the authors reaffirm the authenticity of the submitted work and assume full responsibility for the ideas expressed therein.

4) Articles, interviews, and reviews may be authored individually or with co-authors, with a maximum of 3 (three) authors allowed. The lead author must hold at least a graduate degree. Researchers, professors, and postgraduate students (specialization, master's, or doctoral level) are eligible to submit works. The names and contributions of collaborators exceeding the three co-authors can be mentioned in acknowledgment notes.

5) At the discretion of the Editorial Board, textual works that do not fit into the above categories may be accepted, considering their special relevance.

6) The works must meet the following specifications:

- Typed in Word format, using Arial font, size 11, with 1.5 line spacing, on A4 paper, with top, bottom, and right margins of 2 cm, and left margin of 3 cm. The complete work (including abstracts, notes, illustrations, and bibliographic references) must have a minimum of 12 and a maximum of 20 pages.
- In the case of submission of Architecture and Urbanism projects or media requiring the submission of other formats, consult the Editorial Committee via email at cadernos.au@pucminas.br.
- Concise title and subtitle, with a maximum of 50 characters, presented in trilingual format (Portuguese/English/Spanish).
- If the work is derived from dissertations, thesis, or research reports and if there is mention of funding source, it is necessary to explicitly state in a footnote associated with the title, as indicated in the following example: "This article is based on ongoing research in the doctoral program of Maria de Assis, in the Urban Development Graduate Program (MDU) at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), under the guidance of João Martins."
- Full name of the author(s), supplemented with the following information, indicated in a footnote for each author: Education/Institution, qualification, professional affiliation, contact email, as indicated in the following example: "Architect from PUC Minas, master's degree in Urban Development from UFMG, doctoral student in the Urban Development Graduate Program at PUC Minas. Professor at the Department of Graphic Expression at PUC Minas. Contact email: arquitetoeurbanista@pucminas.br."
- There should be no other mention of the authors of the proposal throughout the text. The authorship identification of the work will be removed from the file by the editorial team, thus ensuring the confidentiality criterion of the journal, if submitted for peer review.
- Abstract of the work, presented in trilingual format (Portuguese/English/Spanish), containing a maximum of 500 characters each (without spaces).
- Keywords indicating the content of the work (minimum of 3 and maximum of 5), presented in trilingual format. It is suggested that at least two of the keywords have a somewhat general character.
- Submitted texts can be written in Portuguese, Spanish, or English.
- In the case of texts submitted in Portuguese or Spanish, the translation into English will be provided by the authors and reviewed by the Editorial Committee of the journal or invited reviewers, after approval of the original text. By submitting their work, the authors agree to provide this translation, if accepted.
- By submitting their work, the author authorizes that, in case of acceptance, the article be published in Portuguese and English or Spanish and English.
- All texts must be formatted according to ABNT standards. All works cited in the text must appear in the References list at the end, just as all works listed in the References list must be cited in the text. (See PUC Minas Standardization Guide, at https://portal.pucminas.br/biblioteca/documentos/Guia-ABNT-completo.pdf).
- Footnotes should be used.
- Images of any nature (graphs, figures, photos, maps, and others) must be perfectly legible and presented in two ways: A) Throughout the text, in low resolution, numbered, accompanied by specific captions, with source identification (images must be free of copyright issues); and B) Each of the images inserted throughout the work must also be submitted through the system, as indicated in "Step 4: Submit Supplementary Document." They should be in JPG or PNG format, with a minimum real size of 1,000 pixels horizontally and proportionate height, to ensure good quality for graphic reproduction. The images in the digital version can be in color, but in the print version, they will be in black and white. The exposure of individuals portrayed in images provided in the submission is entirely the responsibility of the authors.

7) The collaboration of authors and reviewers is not paid. Cadernos de Arquitetura e Urbanismo have exclusively academic purposes, without any commercial interest, and follow the academic calendar of PUC Minas for editorial work. The submission, evaluation, review, layout, and publication process is entirely free for the authors, as well as access for readers. The double-blind review process is the result of voluntary collaboration from the invited academic network of experts; therefore, it is not possible to guarantee a publication deadline.

8) The article will be available on the Cadernos de Arquitetura e Urbanismo website indefinitely, accessible via direct link and with DOI registration.

9) Authors are authorized and encouraged to distribute the published work in the Cadernos de Arquitetura e Urbanismo, such as publication in online academic repositories, as teaching material, or as a book chapter, provided that the initial publication in the Cadernos de Arquitetura e Urbanismo of PUC Minas is acknowledged and with an active hyperlink to the original publication in the journal in case of online publication.
