Counterculture, ecologism and space production in Viçosa, Minas Gerais, Brazil

Abstract

This paper presents some aspects of the socio-territorial occupation of Violeira neighborhood, in Viçosa, Minas Gerais, Brazil, as expression of the countercultural movement and ecologism. From bibliographic research and interviews, we presented values and practices that underlie the action of individuals and groups in the process of producing their living spaces. Other possibilities for interaction with the natural and social environment have been opened up by these movements, which seek to build more egalitarian and environmentally responsible social relationships.
