A review of the modernist housing schedule in Brazil
The present essay consists of an observation of the Modern Movement in Brazil, especially in initiatives aimed at residential production. Unlike a large portion of the works that are a reference in studies on the Modern Movement in Brazil and its respective heritage, this study argues that the genesis of this current in Brazilian residential architecture is associated with the main social events that took place in the country in the second half of the 19th century. In this way, we seek to narrate Brazilian modern architecture with the voice of the political and cultural scene of this moment, which is very different from the European and North American contexts, whose relationship is often evidenced by the literature on this topic and which culminates in instructions generalized and totalizing information about the case in Brazil.
