Land rationalization in the urban foundation of the 20th century

Abstract

The urban foundation at the beginning of the 20th century reflected the changes that occurred in the previous century, especially the Land Law (1850), the abolition of slavery (1888) and the Proclamation of the Republic (1889). That said, the work studies the history of Martinópolis/SP, demonstrating the impact of these factors on their formation and one of the facets that make up this process: the activities of colonization companies in the extreme west of São Paulo. The research, which contributes to the knowledge of the history of the region, makes use of literature focused on the topic and particularly of primary documentation.
