The article seeks to evaluate the impacts caused by illegal mining in the territory of the Yanomami tribe as a form of necropolitics. The problem that guides the research can be summarized in the following question: is illegal mining in the territory of the Yanomami tribe a form of necropolitics? As a general objective, the research sought to evaluate how illegal mining becomes a modality of necropolitical state action. To give concreteness to the general objective, the specific objectives of the text are reflected in three sections: a) analyze from the historical context, the need for a healthy climate for the continuity of Yanomami traditions; b) Investigate whether illegal mining is a form of necropolitics. The research method employed was hypothetical-deductive, through the use of bibliographical and documental research techniques. As a result, considering the data collected from a set of researches, it becomes possible to affirm that the State, when assuming a political management of choice between which people matter and which do not, is characterized as necropolitical. The fact of “letting die” members of the Yanomami tribe from malnutrition and other diseases caused by illegal mining, without any political intervention to preserve life, characterizes necropolitics.
