“A tarefa do tradutor”, de Walter Benjamin, e sua rede dialética com as principais Teorias da Tradução surgidas no século XXI

Abstract

This paper intends to establish a connection between the various theoretical currents that emerged in modernity concerning the translation of literary works with the essay The Translator’s Task, considered here not only as an iconic text, but one of outstanding reference in the construction and foundation of such theories. It is observed that despite being a primary source of other texts, with undeniable influences, it constitutes a philosophical text and, therefore, free from orthodox definitions, generating a huge range of interpretations, many of them revealing paroxysms and contradictions among themselves. It is believed that this dissonance is due to Benjamin’s hermetic and rhizomatic writing, which offers to his readers countless possibilities and incursions, increasing this diversity of interpretations, from the most conservative to the most radical. After all, if a text is a continuous process of rewriting new texts, the act of writing can also be considered a translation act, which conveys, in addition to a creative process, an aspect that enables and supports its theoretical and critical nature.
