Abstract

This brief article questions why India has achieved such successful development in the space sector and asks why Brazil has not been able to do so. It is observed that India maintained a solid long-term investment in its space program, whereas Brazil's investment has been volatile and unsystematic. Achieving success in a large-scale, long-term project requires prioritization even in a scenario where multiple governments and regimes will change. The external threat that India perceives certainly acts as a driver for development. Brazil, with a more peaceful neighborhood, lacks this impetus. However, if Brazil aims to project itself as a player and regional leader, it cannot afford to remain stagnant.
