Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • - Works submitted by undergraduate and/or graduate students must have the participation of, at least, one professor from a Higher Education Institutions (HEI) as supervisor or co-author.
  • In case of submission to a section with peer review (e.g. articles), the instructions available in 'Ensuring blind peer review' must be followed. The submitted file must not have the author identification of any nature.

Author Guidelines

  1. The texts must be unpublished, in the case of articles, they must contain the minimum of 12 (twelve) and the maximum of 25 (twenty-five) pages, while experience reports must contain between 8 (eight) to 10 (ten) pages, and reviews must contain up to 10 (ten) pages, with upper and left margins of 3 cm and lower and right margins of 2 cm; the text should be present, in Times New Roman 12, 1.5 spacing, in the Microsoft Word program and can be written in Portuguese, English or Spanish.
  2. After the title must come the abstract of the work, containing between 150 (one hundred and fifty) and 250 (two hundred and fifty) words, in Times New Roman 10, simple space, accompanied by up to 5 (five) keywords, separated from each other by a period. Initials must be written in lowercase, except for proper names.
  1. On the home page, after the summary in the language in which the text was written, the title and another summary must appear, both in a foreign language (Portuguese, English or Spanish), accompanied by up to 5 (five) palavras-chave, keywords or palabras-clave separated by a semicolon and ended with a period. Texts submitted in another language must bring the abstract and keywords in Portuguese.
  1. The editorial standard will comply with the prescriptions of the Brazilian Association of Technical Standards (ABNT), with special emphasis on what follows.
  1. Short direct citations (up to three lines) are inserted in the text, between quotation marks. Long quotations (more than three lines) must be separate paragraphs, typed in single space and indented 4 cm from the left margin, in the same typeface (Times New Roman) and number 10, without quotation marks.

5.1. All citations must be followed by the author's last name, year of publication and page number, if any, or the location, in parentheses, with only the initial capital letter (Ex.: Martins, 1994, p. 15). The period must be inserted at the end of the sentence. Example: “[...] every selection process must be impartial” (Carvalho, 1977, p. 15).

5.2. Footnotes should be restricted to comments and/or personal observations, intended to provide clarification or make considerations that should not be included in the text, so as not to interrupt the logical sequence of the reading. They should be placed at the bottom of the page and begin with the numerical call received in the text, without a paragraph. They must be typed in Times New Roman n. 10, single space between lines, with no space to separate them from each other. The number indicating the grade must come after the punctuation that closes the sentence.

5.3. References must come at the end of the text, in alphabetical order of its elements starting from the author's last name, with single space between the lines and separated by a blank line with single space. Titles of books and periodicals must be in bold.

5.4. Italics should only be used in the body of the text, for words in a foreign language, reserving quotation marks for any other emphasis.

5.5. The epigraphs must be in regular font (Times New Roman), font 10, single spaced, without quotation marks, followed by an indication of the author in parentheses, date and page.

5.6. The essential elements that make up the references are listed below and must be typed according to the examples:

5.7. Books: AUTHOR'S SURNAME, Name. Title in bold. Edition. Location: Publisher, date.

  • Book chapters: AUTHOR'S SURNAME, Name. Chapter title without bold, quotation marks or italics. In: AUTHOR'S SURNAME, Name. Book title in bold. Edition (eg 3.ed.). Place of publication: Publisher, date. Chapter number (if any), chapter start-end pages.
  • Journal articles: AUTHOR'S SURNAME, Name. Title of the article in bold, quotation marks or italics. Journal title in bold, place, volume (v.), number (n.), initial and final pages of the article, month and year.
  • Articles from conference proceedings: AUTHOR'S SURNAME, Name. Title of the article without bold, quotation marks or italics. In: NAME OF THE CONGRESS (in capital letters), Congress number, year it was held, place where it was held. Publication title in bold. Place of publication: publisher, date. initial and final pages of the article.
  • Electronic format references: indication identical to the conventional format, plus: Available at <electronic address>. For online documents, also add: Access in day, month, year.
  • When there is more than one publication by the same author, repeat the surname and first name in the next reference.
  • When the reference is part of a work (short story, chapter of a book, etc.), being the entire book by the same author, the name and surname of the author enter the reference of the part of the work and the reference of the title of the work; Titles of parts of works must appear in normal font. For example: AUTHOR'S SURNAME, Name. Story title, chapter, etc. no bold, quotes or italics. In: AUTHOR'S SURNAME, Name. Book title in bold. Edition. Location: Publisher, date. Home and end page.
  • At the end of the necessary intertitles there must be no punctuation (unless it is a question mark or exclamation mark).
  • Titles of works should only use capital letters at the beginning of the first word and in proper nouns.
  • In the case of organized works, normally indicate by last name and name of the organizer, followed by Org., in parentheses.
  • In the case of incomplete citations, indicate the interruption by [...].
  • Other types of publications must follow ABNT standards (NBR 6023/2002.
