Abstract
Este artigo apresenta uma análise da produção literária de Franz Kafka que procura entender a sua crítica ao moderno estado de direito como uma representação messiânica. O messianismo está presente na forma negativa com que Kafka se relaciona com a lei. Contraposto a uma religiosidade institucional que se direciona a manutenção do status quo, a religiosidade negativa do messianismo kafkiano apresenta as limitações inerentes à realidade, ao mesmo passo em que compreende a dificuldade de vencer
estas limitações no tempo presente. Recorrendo às interpretações de Michael Löwy e de Giorgio Agamben focamos a urgência messiânica da obra de Kafka como uma urgência de compreender o caminho que ainda falta ser trilhado.
