Author Guidelines

The Board of the Faculty of Psychology of the Pontifical Catholic University of Minas Gerais (FAPSI PUC Minas) makes public the guidelines of the process for submitting articles, reviews and dissertation and thesis abstracts to make up the next editions of the Pretextos, a journal that aims to encourage the scientific dissemination of studies developed by undergraduate students in Psychology at PUC Minas and other Higher Education Institutions. The publication brings together texts from internship, extension, scientific initiation and course completion (monograph) produced during graduation, also contemplating Psychology articles from the postgraduate context, as well as writings prepared by professors and researchers in the area. Texts in Portuguese or Spanish can be published.

I GENERAL INFORMATION AND PROVISIONS

1.1 The call is open to students and former students of undergraduate and graduate courses in Psychology from the various Higher Education Institutions, as well as to researchers, professors and professionals in the area. Check out the full presentation of the Thematic Dossier and schedule for receiving texts on free themes: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Iq9eXkMr3HDO97MWd-IIniQfHVFBQATm/view.

1.2 In the case of articles produced by students and / or ex - undergraduate students, texts from works developed during the training process will be accepted for evaluation, as a result of theoretical-conceptual and methodological reflections, with or without analysis of empirical data, produced from monographs (course completion works) and scientific initiation, internship or extension experiences. Articles can be produced exclusively by the student / ex-student or also written in partnership with their respective advisor (co-author). Articles from scientific initiation can be written with the participation of up to two students, in case the practice has been carried out in pairs. Articles originated from extension activities and / or internship practices can be produced by the group of students involved, limited to a maximum of six authors, in addition to the advisor.

1.3 In relation to articles produced in the context of Postgraduate courses, the texts that discuss any area of Psychology will be evaluated, as long as they are products of the conclusion work of the referred students. The articles may or may not be co-authored with the respective supervisors.

1.4 The veracity of the information, as well as the authorship of the articles are the sole responsibility of the respective authors. Likewise, ethical care and the preservation of the identities of subjects and institutions included in the studies presented are presented.

1.5 When submitting their participation, the authors declare themselves aware and in accordance with the rules prescribed by these guidelines. The submission of articles, reviews and / or abstracts of dissertations and theses already represents authorization for these, if selected, to be published in the journal. Therefore, from now on, the authors of the chosen texts authorize the use and reproduction of the writings, the use of the name and images related to their production and dissemination for the purposes of institutional promotion of the publication covered by this notice. However, it is mandatory to complete and submit the authorship statement, which explains the responsibility and participation of the authors in the work presented. Click here to download the template to be edited, signed and attached as a supplementary document when sending the manuscript. Declaration of authorship can be digitally signed.

1.6 Anti-plagiarism screening policy: all articles received, before being sent for blind peer review, will be verified using the CopySpider software, a freeware tool developed for the identification of inappropriate copy and appropriation of content from other authors.

1.7 Due to the large number of contributions received for the editions already published, the period for submitting articles will be opened only once a year (according to a schedule that will be released soon). However, since it is a biannual journal, after evaluation, part of the works received will be selected to compose the volume for the first semester (January / June) of the following year, and others will be separated for the number referring to the second semester (July / December) of the same year. A letter of acceptance is sent to the authors certifying the approval of their contribution.

1.8 Articles that have a direct correlation with one (or more) of the 17 Global Goals For Sustainable Development will have preference in the editorial flow. The goal must be explicitly addressed in the text, which registers a real contribution to its treatment or discussion.

1.9 The cases omitted in these guidelines will be decided by the Editorial Team, whose decisions will be sovereign.

II PRESENTATION OF ARTICLES

2.1 The body of the text and the references must follow the instructions of the Brazilian Association of Technical Standards (ABNT), available here through the Standardization of scientific articles, on the link: http://portal.pucminas.br/biblioteca.

IMPORTANT: authors must use the layout/template made available by the journal to assist in formatting, writing and evaluating texts. To access the file, click here. Please note that some guidelines registered in the template are different from those informed by the aforementioned standard of standardization. For example, here single line spacing should be used only in the abstract, in long citations (with 4 cm indentation) and in the reference list. The other parts of the manuscript must be arranged with 1.5 spacing between lines.

2.2 The texts must be typed in Microsoft Word format (.doc, .docx etc.), according to the file informed above. The manuscript must be between 15 and 20 pages, including references.

2.3 The title of the article must be presented in Portuguese, English and Spanish, remembering that the full text of the article can be written in Spanish.

2.4 The abstract and keywords items must be presented in the text in Portuguese, English and Spanish. The abstract must contain a maximum of 300 words (a minimum of 120 is suggested). The keywords, expressions that represent the subject addressed in the work, should be three to five, separated from each other according to the aforementioned standardization. Just below the title of the article register your correspondent in English.

Unlike what is mentioned in the aforementioned standardization standard, the keywords and their equivalent in a foreign language must be separated by semicolons (;), including with regard to the information recorded when submitting the text on the platform.

We request the authors' attention to also register the titles of the articles in CAPS LOCK the system and in the submitted file (valid guidance for the title in Portuguese and in a foreign language).

2.5 Except for the presentation of the references used (mandatory element), the titles of the other divisions / sections of the article can be established at the discretion of the author (s). However, it is suggested to consider the importance of specific topics for presentation of the introduction, the method used (procedures), the results achieved by the practice performed (when applicable), discussion and final considerations.

2.6 The final formatting of the articles will be carried out by the team editorial. Therefore, it reserves the right to make changes to the originals, in order to maintain homogeneity (aesthetic and technical formatting) and the quality of the publication (correct any grammatical errors), while respecting the style and opinions of the authors ( which are their respective and exclusive responsibility).

III PRESENTATION OF REVIEWS

3.1 Pretextos also accepts texts for critical review of national and foreign works, the first edition of which was published no more than two years ago. Reviews should guide the reader as to the characteristics of the analyzed book, thus highlighting its main ideas, its potential uses and contributions to the field of Psychology.

3.2 Reviews must comply with the guidelines and the standardization of articles. However, the texts must contain a maximum of four (04) pages, in which case only the abstract and key words in national and foreign languages are dispensed with. It should be noted, therefore, that reviews must have their own title in Portuguese or Spanish, in addition to its equivalent in English. At the end of the text, reference should be made to the reviewed work and also to other consulted sources. Reviews should also be registered with the layout/template made available by the journal (click here).

IV PRESENTATION OF THE ABSTRACTS OF DISSERTATIONS AND THESES

4.1 Abstracts of dissertations and theses whose researches belong to the field of Psychology are also published, with the defense of works carried out on a date within the limit of the last 24 months.

4.2 Abstracts must contain a maximum of two (02) pages, start the title of the dissertation or thesis in Portuguese or Spanish, plus the English version. At the end of the text, the keywords must also be presented in English. At the end of the writing, the complete reference of the work presented must be included (informing the type of document, that is, whether dissertation or thesis; the degree - master's or doctorate; the institution and the location) and also from other consulted sources. Other guidelines for formatting abstracts, see guidelines and standardization of articles.

V IMPORTANT: some precautions when making your submission

5.1 When submitting the text, all authors must be informed. On the page that confirms the information of the first author (main author) and records of the production data (title, summary, etc.), there is the "include author" button, which allows the registration of co-authors. Use this option as many times as necessary.

5.2 Enter only your last name in the “Last name” field. All other parts of your name, including the first surname, must be entered in the "Name" field.

5.3 Record the title of the text only in the "Title" field. Please do not fill in "Prefix" or separate the "subtitle".

5.4 When entering keywords, both in Portuguese and in a foreign language, do not copy and paste them once. You need to register the words or phrases separately, until they become a box. If this does not happen naturally, press the “tab” key before typing the next one. This procedure is important for the correct registration of your article's metadata (it is from this information that people will find your text).
