EDUCATION FOR LIBERATION AND YOUTH: A PSYCHOSOCIAL INTERVENTION WITH HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

The purpose of this article is to generate reflections on an intervention performed with students and discuss the need for them to be active in the teaching-learning process. The objective of this article is to report the experience of two trainees from the 8th period of the Psychology course at PUC - Minas, which consisted of a psychosocial intervention performed with teenagers of the second year of high school of a state school. The reflections and analysis of the collected data are based on Paulo Freire's theory regarding education as a liberating practice, which aims to overcome banking education, ie hierarchical practices, with the teacher having a place of knowledge holder and the student being an information deposit. At the end, we seek to make a reflection regarding the intervention performed and the importance of teachers and school to give a voice to learners, providing moments of dialogue with these parties, the protagonists of the teaching-learning process. From this dialogue, it is possible to expand the perspectives of the subjects regarding the world, providing transformations that are beyond the school environment.
