FEMALE TRAJECTORY ON THE STREETS: A PSYCHOLOGICAL LOOK AT THE PROMOTION OF HUMAN RIGHTS IN A PUBLI POLICY FOR WOMEN

Abstract

The following article is the result of the mandatory curricular internship experience “Human Rights and Inclusion”, from the Psychology graduation course at PUC Minas Praça da Liberdade, developed in the second semester of 2022. This internship proposal aimed to carry out observation and psychological intervention of the interns at the Integrated Women's Assistance Center (CIAM), with the objective to promoting and protecting human rights. The practice was intended to provide students with daily monitoring and psychosocial interventions carried out within the scope of the public policy for women in situations of social vulnerability, with a life trajectory on the streets, in harmful use of alcohol and of other drugs, as well as in situations of domestic violence, realizing its impasses, challenges and potential. The theoretical framework adopted, considering the complexity of the field, had as its central axis the peri-pathetic clinic (LANCETTI, 2005) in conjunction with the harm reduction paradigm, in addition to the intersectional perspective of black feminism. The link between theory and practice put the interns in contact with vulnerabilities of different orders, calling us to think about the knowledge and practice of psychology in other ways. We were led to change the perspective in which we see people with life trajectory on the streets, considering that we cannot ignore a reality that screams its existence. The practice of observation and intervention at CIAM brings reflections on the experience of these women who are neglected and, to a certain extent, dehumanized by a society insensitive to their existence. It was possible to closely monitor invisible barriers that, imposed by the system, alter not only the social position of these women, but their construction as subjects of rights, their relationships with others and the way they construct their identities.
