Abstract

In this work, we interrogate the context of children's representation of blackness in cinema and its effects on the identity processes of children and adolescents. To this end, we explored the notion of “becoming black, as formalized by Neusa Santos Souza and other authors, in order to allow a better understanding of how this process is established in childhood, based on the relationships that are built in childhood. identity construction arising from the influence of black representation in children's cinema. From a methodological point of view, the article analyzes the statements of five black children and adolescents on the proposed theme based on playful strategies constructed through the action research method. This article results in the observation that the blackness of children and young people has been made invisible and diminished within the scope of their social representation, impacting on identity processes of silencing and subalternization of their identities.
