The dynamism of the transnational land acquisitions: approaching the phenomenon of international relations studies and international political economy

Resumo

O artigo aborda a questão das aquisições transnacionais de terra que se expandiram e ganharam visibilidade a partir de 2008, no contexto das crises alimentar, financeira e energética que eclodiram no biênio 2007-2008. O objetivo deste texto é fornecer uma síntese dos processos de apropriação de terras nos últimos anos, destacando (i) as motivações por trás da recente onda de aquisições de terra; (ii) a dimensão do fenômeno e os principais setores de investimento; (iii) os principais países investidores e receptores; (iv) os instrumentos de governança global desenhados para a regulamentação dos land grabs; e (v) os principais atores envolvidos no processo nos níveis global, nacional e local. Assim, busca-se contribuir para a área das Relações Internacionais e para a subárea da Economia Política Internacional divulgando uma linha de pesquisa multidisciplinar e de grande relevância social. Para tanto, foi realizada uma revisão bibliográfica e documental, ancorada nas informações colhidas na base de dados Land Matrix e nas publicações especializadas.
