LIBRAS: CHALLENGES AND POSSIBILITY FOR IMPLEMENTATION IN THE BASIC EDUCATION CURRICULUM OF THE UIBAÍ REGULAR EDUCATION NETWORK

The purpose of this research is to reflect on how to implement the teaching of LIBRAS in the elementary school curriculum of basic education in the regular schools of Uibaí municipal school. Part of a background on deaf education and the current education policy based on the inclusion of deaf people in the common school and presents the main bills of the House and Senate, drawing attention to the importance of the Common National Base Curriculum and the local curriculum. Within this set, it indicates the use of the Brazilian Sign Language as a compulsory subject to benefit the education and inclusion of deaf students in the school space. The bibliographic and field research methodology was used in a qualitative approach. The research concludes that the inclusion of the Libras discipline in the scope of Basic Education is extremely important for its acquisition by listeners and also highlights the seriousness of a real inclusion of the deaf in the school environment.
