RELAÇÕES ÉTNICO-RACIAIS, RACISMO E EDUCAÇÃO: LEI N° 10.639/2003 E SUAS DIRETRIZES

Abstract

Racism is still present in the daily life of our country and its implications in the context of education, as well as the way it has been debated and fought over the years, in order to reduce racial and social inequalities. This article presents concepts of race and ethnicity, and also an introduction and contextualization of ethnic-racial relations. In what way education can contribute to the confrontation of such inequalities and what Law n°10.639/2003 and its national curricular guidelines say. A literature review was chosen, as survey of articles published in Brazil, books, including the specific legislation that deals with issues pertinent to ethnic-racial relations and the reparation of the effects of racial discrimination in Brazil. It is perceived that it is indispensable to gather efforts so that more and more the black population gains strength and representation in the most diverse spaces and segments of society, implying justice and equal social, civil, cultural and economic rights, for a large portion of the population that has suffered from discrimination and inequalities for decades.
