This article seeks to reflect on how the Academia Estudantil de Letras (AEL) project, of the Municipal Education Network of São Paulo, constitutes a solid public policy to promote literacy, and how it can, from that, contribute to the Education for Ethnic-Racial Relations. The AEL project has been in existence for fifteen years and, along this journey, as also advocated by Candido (2011), it has fostered the right to Literature, as well as favoring inclusion, student autonomy and improved learning. Based on the experience of one of the schools that carries out the project, AEL Kiusam de Oliveira, from EMEF Francisco Rebolo, we intend to analyze the importance of black representation in the workplace with literary practices in addition to the access and promotion of Literature as a central path in the Education for Ethnic-Racial Relations process.
