Abstract

This article discusses the experiences of social technologies for rainwater harvesting and use, which are being implemented with families by the Diocesan Caritas of Araçuaí for food production in the municipalities of Novo Cruzeiro and Caraí (MG), located in the semi-arid region of Minas Gerais. From the perspective of integral ecology proposed by the Encyclical Laudato si', the article analyzes how popular knowledge, agroecological practices, and the articulation of social movements enable sustainable and fair alternatives for vulnerable populations. The study emphasizes the integration of traditional knowledge with the principles of socio-environmental sustainability and agroecology, highlighting the importance of water justice and coexistence with the semi-arid region as foundations of integral ecology.
