TRAJECTORY OF INTEGRAL ECOLOGY IN BRAZIL

Abstract

This text presents a brief overview of the academic production related to Integral Ecology, starting from the Laudato Si’ Encyclical and other perspectives that employ the term "integral ecology." It also discusses the creation of the journal Ecologia Integral as a means of promoting this movement. The methodology consisted of an internet search that was not intended to be exhaustive, but rather indicative, aimed at assisting researchers in delving deeper into some of the topics already addressed. The data indicate that, since 2008, articles referencing Integral Ecology have been produced in Brazil; however, it was in 2024 that research on this subject intensified. There are also dissertations and theses on the topic. The studies point to paths of reflection that have been explored and that may lead not only to further, increasingly specific and in-depth research, but also to the development of a more ecologically humanized collective environment. By systematizing the existing knowledge, we aim to inspire new initiatives committed to the integration of environmental care, social justice, and spirituality. It is hoped that this work will contribute to the advancement of an ecology that truly considers all dimensions of life, fostering both cultural and practical transformation in the face of contemporary social and environmental challenges.
