Abstract

A proposta deste artigo é apresentar uma análise das representações do fenômeno do Crack a partir da cobertura da mídia mineira, no período de 1999 à junho 2010. A discussão que pretendemos apresentar diz respeito à forma como a cobertura midiática, no período analisado, vai aos poucos retirando a relação do fenômeno do Crack com dimensões sócio-políticas mais complexas e transfere para os sujeitos sociais - os usuários, os viciados, as comunidades em que predomina o tráfico de drogas -  a responsabilidade do fenômeno. Demonizar a droga e os indivíduos por ela “possuídos” situa o fenômeno na esfera das escolhas pessoais. De alguma forma, a mídia mineira contribuiu para os enquadramentos ideais que deveriam ser colocados em debate pela opinião pública.
