De Estado Pária aos desafios de uma Potência Emergente:
reflexões sobre os 30 anos de política externa da África do Sul pós-apartheid

O artigo em destaque se propõe a refletir sobre as principais características da política externa da África do Sul entre 1994 e 2024. Feito isso, espera-se apresentar as principais especificidades vistas nas administrações Mandela (1994-1998), Mbeki (1999-2008), Zuma (2009-2018) e Ramaphosa (2018-2024), que não apenas levaram ao fim o isolamento diplomático resultante do regime de segregação racial (apartheid), como também garantiram o maior protagonismo da África do Sul nos cenários regional e internacional. Em termos metodológicos, adotaremos abordagem qualitativa, de caráter interpretativo, uso de fontes primárias e secundárias consideradas relevantes para o desenvolvimento do tema, bem como a estruturação em quatro seções, sendo a primeira, a introdução, e a última, as considerações finais. Acerca das outras duas seções, na primeira centraremos a discussão sobre as principais características da política externa sul-africana adotada durante as duas primeiras administrações pós-apartheid, enquanto a segunda, concetrará a análise das políticas externas adotadas nas administrações Zuma e Ramaphosa.
