Religião e anti-imperialismo nos EUA análise dos escritos adventistas (1864-1915)

Resumo
Este artigo tem como objetivo avaliar, por meio de uma pesquisa documental e bibliográfica, a relação entre o adventismo e o anti-imperialismo no final do século XIX e início do século XX. O texto se concentra na forma como o adventismo, com suas crenças bíblicas e sua escatologia apocalíptica, oferece uma crítica ao imperialismo e às visões etnocêntricas da época. Analisando fontes primárias, o artigo também explora a tensão entre a missão evangelizadora adventista e as realidades do colonialismo. Os dados revelam que, ao mesmo tempo em que divulgavam sua fé, os adventistas confrontavam e reinterpretavam dinâmicas imperialistas de poder existentes em seus próprios países e nos campos estrangeiros. Apesar de suas origens no contexto norte-americano e de manifestarem sentimentos patrióticos, os primeiros adventistas desenvolveram uma postura crítica em relação ao imperialismo à medida que sua mensagem se espalhava por regiões tocadas por essas políticas.
