Uma peregrinação advaita ao encontro do outro: o diálogo inter-religioso na obra de Raimon Panikkar

Main Article Content

Abstract

Raimon Panikkar (1918-2010) is a theologian and philosopher, born in Barcelone. From a hindu-christian family, he was one of the main exponents of the interreligious dialogue. Stands out, in this context, his famous expression: I left as a Christian, found myself as a Hindu and became a Budist, without ceasing to be a Christian. In my return, I found myself as a better Christian. In order to understand it, we find essential to go deep into the meaning of advaita (aduality). The way in which the Vedic perspective of advaita is inserted in his work and constitutes a resource for the interreligious dialogue is the main theme of this research. The author has developed important concepts throughout his work and we can identify not only an influence, but a clear reference to the Hindu tradition and, more specifically, to the advaita perspective, mentioned many times by him and identified by us as a kind of conducting wire or explanatory factor to many of his theories. This research investigates how the advaita constitutes a way of building the interreligious dialogue in Panikkars works. For such, we contextualize the advaita perspective in the origins of Hinduism and its use by the author, from a critical analysis of Western philosophical thought, in his mystical experience, also defined by him as experience of Life. We analyze his theories of Trinitarian and cosmotheandric vision, based in the Christian Trinity, his concept of christology named as christophany and the development of a pluralistic attitude, which will serve as a base for the interreligious dialogue in his works, from the pluralistic paradigm of the Religious Pluralism Theology. Then, we identify the advaita in the development of what he understands as intra-religious dialogue, encountering the other in its ownself, through what he calls advaitic love. It is a pilgrimage that takes place in the human beings interiority, parallel to the interreligious dialogue. This is a theoretical research, through a critical-analytical methodological perspective, in view of its apllication in the interreligious dialogue, based in Panikkars bibliography, but also in some authors who dialogue, criticize and/or are a reference to him.
