Abstract

The Religious Education in Brazilian public elementary schools was consolidated as curricular discipline after traveling several paths. It has established itself as a discipline, but the conflicts and questions about the relevance of the subject and the dimension of its performance in the school environment still remain. It is noticed that the performance of this discipline goes beyond the school field and goes beyond the educational field. This curricular component is linked to basic formation of citizens. This implies acting in the formation of a full human being, capable of acting in the reality in which he lives. Thus there is a need to review the proposals and assumptions for Religious Education discipline. In such way, it is proposed in this dissertation the development of the theme, Pluralism and Religious Education: A practical reading of Religious Education from the Pluralistic Theology. The main goal is to reflect on the religious education course in the light of the Pluralistic Theology. Another goal is to make a reading of the ER from discipline of observations of the state schools of Belo Horizonte, for it will be to build on the Theology of Religious Pluralism (TPR). The route adopted to achieve the proposed objectives will use the following: show the Theology of Religious Pluralism and its main paradigms. Present the results of observation survey in state schools and point out which paradigm of TPR is present in each of them. Demarcate the divine revelation categories, salvation / liberation and dialogue from the Pluralistic Theology. This analysis will serve as a basis for the next phase. On the last point, there will be a reading of the main aspects of religious education observed in Chapter I, with reference to the categories studied the Pluralistic Theology. The results of this research will point the outlook for Religious Education if this is thought from the Pluralist Theology and its main categories.
