BHAKTIVINODA THAKURA AND THE INTERFAITH DIALOGUE IN THE 19th CENTURY
Main Article Content
Abstract
Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura, a essential master of Vaiṣṇavism, one of the four main traditions of Hinduism, is one of the rare masters who was able to rescue, reform, and propagate a particular theological thought by presenting a unique and extensive work. In this article, I present, mainly, Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura's propositions for interreligious dialogue, published in India in the nineteenth century. The research was theoretical and bibliographic, based on three fundamental books of Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura's work. Interfaith dialogue is a current reality that has been widely studied in the Religious Studies but there are few examples of researches in Brazil about members of non-Christian traditions that have proposed this dialogue or is doing it nowadays. Thus, we see at the end the pioneering spirit and vision of the author studied and his importance to the field of research in Pluralism and Interreligious Dialogue.
