THE POLITICAL-ESCHATOLOGICAL RESERVE OF THE CHURCH AND THE SOCIAL CRISIS

Abstract
The article tries to emphasize the political aspect of the church as a contribution to the current social-political context. With the return of "political theology" as a contribution to think about the theological aspects of politics in the public space, it becomes appropriate to revisit the church as a political manifestation with indelible social impact, despite all the problems that accompany the church as an institution. Thus, based on the contributions of Jürgen Moltmann and Giorgio Agamben, we intend to start from two assumptions: (i) The church is within the religious perspective, that is, the church is part of a religion, the Christian one, and, in this sense, is involved with the social-political dynamics; (ii) Within this aspect, the church carries a kind of political-eschatological reserve that is in its genesis, being, thus, possible to socially influence in the face of the social crisis we are going through with its messianic categories. In this way, we hope to give more attention to the eschatological aspect of the church and its non-futuristic relationship with society.
