PASTORAL CARE IN THE UNIVERSITY history, mission, challenges and scenarios

Abstract

The research work in this article highlights the historical path of pastoral action with youth in the singular and plural scope of the university and the mission of University Pastoral. The objective is to know the processes of changing over time, the marches and counter-marchs in history and the guidelines for pastoral actions in a specific and challenging environment. It deals with the understanding of the sociocultural, political and religious scenarios, challenges and realities that impact the university generation, in order to propose paths of dialogue and pastoral actions, based on listening and the participation of youth in decision-making spaces and in the process of planning of actions in the academic community. The research methodology is descriptive and exploratory based on theoretical contributions. The research allowed the identification of a more plural, less prejudiced, religious and politicized contemporary university generation. Therefore, the study pointed to the urgency of knowing the profile of the contemporary university generation to build pastoral actions that correspond to current realities.
