THE PROFILE OF USERS UNDER SPIRITUAL TREATMENT AT A SPIRITIST CENTER IN BRAZIL'S CENTRAL-WESTERN REGION

Abstract
In Brazil, it is common for individuals to seek religious and spiritual resources when facing illness, especially in a context that values these dimensions in the process of socialization. This study aimed to identify the profile of users who sought spiritual treatment during a period of illness. It is a retrospective study with secondary data obtained from a spiritual center located in the city of Cuiabá, Mato Grosso, between the years 2017 and 2019. The data were extracted from a specific data form of the spiritual center, collected by the institution's workers for analysis by the researchers. The highest frequency of people seeking spiritual treatment occurred in the year 2018, mainly by adult women of various religious denominations, although in most of the records, religious affiliation was not declared. Identifying this profile can be useful in studying the motivation for attending these popular care environments. The gaps highlighted by this study could be better understood in a prospective study.
