Abstract
O artigo pretende delimitar as duas posições sobre a cultura surgidas na Teoria Crítica da Escola de Frankfurt. Por um lado, Walter Benjamin sustenta ser a arte reproduzida tecnicamente um veículo que pode levar à transformação social e, por outro, Theodor Adorno e Max Horkheimer entendem a associação entre arte e técnica como dominação e não como emancipação. Ao final, faz-se uma pequena digressão, não conclusiva, para enfocar a atualidade do debate fundado nesse duplo viés da cultura.
