CONTRIBUTIONS OF A PSYCHODIAGNOSIS IN UNDERSTANDING A TEENAGER'S SYMPTOMS

Abstract

This article is a clinical case study with reflections brought from a psychodiagnostic process carried out in a school clinic at a private university in Belo Horizonte-MG. This is a 14-year-old teenager who had complaints described by his parents: discouragement, laziness, socialization problems, difficulties in positioning himself and fluctuating grades. Despite having had a previous diagnosis of depression, the parents refused to accept it. Thus, the objective of this work is to bring knowledge about how psychodiagnosis can be a good investigative instrument to understand the demands, speeches of the patient and others involved in the process, in addition to illustrating that a symptom does not say about an individual formation, as being contextual, relational and permeated by family issues, social and subjective crossings. It was possible to identify the impact of relationships, especially family ones, in understanding the diagnosis of depression, which was confirmed in the process carried out.
