DISPOSITIVOS COMUNICACIONAIS E MEMÓRIA DO SAGRADO: a igreja medieval de S. Nicolau em Dereham, Inglaterra

Abstract

Este trabalho delineia alguns dispositivos comunicacionais da igreja medieval de S. Nicolau em Dereham, Inglaterra. O objetivo é verificar como discursos de formas, lugares e tempos diferentes se articulam na construção da imagem “sagrada” do lugar. A partir de pesquisa de campo e documental, foram delimitados três elementos do dispositivo, ao redor dos quais se concentra a análise: (a) as disposições do espaço como lugar da materialidade de discursos; (b) o discurso de atribuição da fundação do lugar a uma santa, Santa Withburga, no caso; (c) os dispositivos ligados a linhas de força da Reforma Protestante e do “revival gótico”. Finalmente, esses dispositivos são contextualizados na configuração contemporânea do lugar.
