In this research we set out to examine how journalistic coverage of neuroscience occurs in the Brazilian print media. With this objective in mind, we conducted a content analysis of the news about neuroscience published in the printed newspaper Folha de São Paulo, in three consecutive periods, between 1986 and 2015. Of the 12 thematic categories identified, nine of them highlighted the frameworks: “biologization of the social” and/or “creation of chronic patients”. Based on the analysis of the results and a review of the literature, we discussed the role of the media and scientists in the construction of the proposed discourse and frameworks, indicating the urgency of promoting a closer relationship between these actors.
