Abstract

This article aims to analyze Bacurau (Kleber Mendonça Filho, Juliano Dornelles, 2019) from the perspective of its production, the critical dimension and the context the film articulates. Starting from the circulations of the film and a brief narrative analysis, this research goes through the intend to analyze the political and social perspectives engendered in the public space and elaborated in the images and narrative by Bacurau. In a critical path, we observe how the film, a relevant communicational phenomenon to recent Brazilian cinema, manifests a dialogue between content and aesthetics, and also how it is directed towards a political conception.

Doutorando do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Meios e Processos Audiovisuais, na linha de Cultura Audiovisual e Comunicação (ECA-USP), com bolsa Capes. Mestre pelo mesmo programa. Possui graduação em Comunicação Social - Habilitação em Jornalismo pela Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP). Membro do MidiAto - Grupo de Estudos de Linguagem e Prática Midiática (ECA-USP), do Grupo de Pesquisa Imagens, metrópoles e culturas juvenis (PUC-SP) e da rede de pesquisa Metacrítica. Docente no Centro Universitário FMU FIAM-FAAM.

Doutorando no Programa de Pós-Graduação em Meios e Processos Audiovisuais na Escola de Comunicações e Artes da Universidade de São Paulo (com bolsa Fapesp, de 2018 a 2022). Realizou período de doutorado sanduíche junto ao Institut de recherche sur le cinéma et l'audiovisuel (IRCAV), na Université Sorbonne Nouvelle - Paris 3 (financiado pela Fapesp - BEPE, 2019-2020). Faz parte do MidiAto - Grupo de Estudos em Linguagem e Práticas Midiáticas (USP). Pesquisa a circulação crítica dos filmes brasileiros contemporâneos, em diálogo com o político e o social.
