Author Biography

Julio César Machado Pinto, PUC Minas

Julio Pinto obteve seu Ph.D. na University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, EUA, em 1985, e fez estudos de pós-doutoramento na Universidade Católica Portuguesa, Lisboa, 1992. Atualmente é professor de Semiótica, Coordenador do Mestrado em Comunicação Social da PUC Minas. É Presidente da Compós - Associação Nacional de Programas de Pós-graduação em Comunicação (2011-2013), tendo sido Vice-Presidente na gestão anterior (2009-2011) Autor de inúmeros livros, capítulos de livros e artigos publicados no Brasil e no exterior, tem atuado como avaliador institucional do Inep e consultor da Capes. Atua na área de Comunicação. Em seu currículo Lattes os termos mais frequentes na contextualização da produção científica, tecnológica e artístico-cultural são: semiótica, linguagem, comunicação, filosofia da linguagem, teoria da imagem, cinema e TV, arte, mídia eletrônica, teoria literária e tradução intersemiótica.
