This article presents the relationship between affect, sensoriality and addressment through the film “The Wolf of Wall Street”, by Martin Scorsese. We will explore the notion of ocularcentrism to study how interpellation in the Western world is constructed, while at the same time presenting the gaps in such a conception. On the other hand, we will demonstrate how the film exploits the assumptions of ocularcentrism to destabilize the distanced position of the spectator. In the process, the film explores issues of consumption, desire and sensoriality critically, in such a way that is not merely discursive, but also affective.
