Abstract

Released in 2015, Turbo Kid portrays a post-apocalyptic world where civilizational collapse is the consequence of unregulated capitalism and neoliberalism. This article analyzes how the film, while paying homage to 1980s classics, constructs a political allegory about exploitation and alienation. Through camp aesthetics and stylized violence, the work satirizes structures of power and mass culture, offering a critical reflection on the social and subjective effects of late capitalism and neoliberal ideologies.

Author Biography

Anna Clara do Carmo Murça, Universidade Federal de Ouro Preto

Anna Murça é jornalista formada pela UFMG, onde desenvolveu a monografia Guerra em foco: estudo de caso das fotografias jornalísticas de guerra que venceram o World Press Photo of the Year nas décadas de 2000 e 2010. Mestre em Comunicação pelo PPGCOM/UFOP, defendeu a dissertação "Quando a guerra tem rosto de mulher? Pathosformeln do feminino nas fotografias jornalísticas da Associated Press acerca da guerra Russo-Ucraniana", sob orientação da profa. dra. Ana Carolina Lima Santos. Sua pesquisa concentra-se nas pathosformeln - fórmulas de paixão, conceito cunhado por Aby Warburg - aplicadas à representação do feminino em cenários de guerra, cruzando a filosofia da imagem de Georges Didi-Huberman com estudos críticos de fotojornalismo e gênero. Seu trabalho explora como as narrativas visuais de conflito constroem, através de repertórios iconográficos recorrentes, memórias afetivas da violência, interrogando especialmente os mecanismos de politização do sofrimento feminino.
