This article analyzes videos published on the Instagram page @dougigsouza that recreate atmospheres of Rio de Janeiro’s past through artificial intelligence. The objective is to understand how nostalgia is mediated when the past is not constructed from historical archives but generated by algorithms. The study engages debates on media nostalgia, urban imaginary, memory and digital culture, with attention to urban temporalities and verisimilitude effects. Methodologically, the research adopts a case study approach, based on a qualitative analysis of the audiovisual materiality of selected videos. The results indicate the production of a synthetic memory marked by the idealization of urban space, temporal flexibility and the attenuation of historical conflicts, positioning artificial intelligence as a contemporary technology for mediating urban nostalgia in digital media.
