Approaching nostalgia as a strategy for creating audiovisual narratives, this article investigates how the teen series Rebelde (Netflix, 2022) and Margarita (HBO Max, 2024) instrumentalize nostalgia by revisiting the fictional universes of the telenovelas Rebelde (2004) and Floricienta (2004). As a theoretical and methodological approach, it employs Boym (2017) concept of restorative and reflexive nostalgia and discussions on nostalgia, media, and the algorithmic logic of streaming services. Through a comparative analysis between the series and the telenovelas, it identified "nostalgic bridges" that establish continuities between the fictional universes of the plots, as well as updates that adapt the narratives to the present time. In parallel, it explored how streaming platforms instrumentalize nostalgia as a safe commercial investment.
