The aim of this article is to reflect on technostalgia, that is, nostalgia for technologies considered obsolete (analog or digital), as Schrey (2025) and Niemeyer e Siebert (2023) explain. The focus is on media technologies as narrativized on the Instagram account @perfil_nostalgico, through posts that seek to recall functional and aesthetic features, as well as the social interactions prompted by such artifacts. The study is guided by memory culture studies, using nostalgia as a conceptual and analytical category (Pickering and Keightley, 2006) to identify the perspectives these posts offer on media technologies, as well as contemporary perceptions and anxieties. The problematization of nostalgia is also based on Boym (2001), Grainge (2002), and Niemeyer (2014). In the posts, it is possible to identify critiques regarding the loss of materiality in mediated practices, temporal acceleration, and interpersonal relationships. Conversely, they celebrate ritualistic experiences mediated by “older” technologies, suggesting that such memories provide comfort and well-being.
