Abstract

Surgida em meados do século XIX, momento em que se afirma a divisão entre dois regimes de produção cultural, o cultivado e o popular, a narrativa policial moderna desafia essa partilha, situando-se na interseção entre tais regimes. Priorizando o processo de investigação de crimes, instituído com a modernidade, transformando-o num modelo abstrato gerador de narrativas, o gênero caracteriza-se pelo amplo potencial de reprodução a partir de pequenas variações, adaptando-se bem ao princípio da serialidade e à transposição para diferentes mídias. Considerando tais características, o texto discute a trajetória da ficção policial e sua recorrência na literatura e no cinema contemporâneos, tendo em vista o declínio da estética da provocação.
