Abstract

This research aims to establish the relationship of influence of the philosophy of Soren Kierkegaard on the theological construction of Paul Tillich. Therefore, we use as a background or as argumentative structure the concept of human despair in Kierkegaard, comparing it to the concept of Transfer of being in Tillich. Our purpose is to demonstrate the dialogical intertwining within the development of the so-called doctrine of original sin in both authors. In other words, we intend to show how the unfolding of Kierkegaard's anthropology problematized the foundations of a systematic theology, especially in what it refers to the issue of harmatiology, as well as how this same questioning, was able to standardize the modus operandi that led to the drafting done by Tillich on the same subject. Obviously, in the course of this research, we did not aim to "disqualify" or "eliminate" the originality of the authors, nor turn their arguments into a kind of conceptual amalgam. Thus, before a review that intended to arrive at some "arbitrary fusion of ideas,” we propose solutions of dialectical and common centers, that point to those elements of convergence, where in fact, dialogue is possible.
