Allan Kardec and the progress of science

Abstract
In formulating Spiritism, unlike the religious traditions of that time, Allan Kardec was always concerned with presenting spiritist concepts associated with scientific ideas in force at his time, with the aim of integrating it into the current culture. For him, the laws of the material world and those of the spiritual world have divine origins. Spiritism should not be sacred, it can change based on new discoveries, new recognized facts. Based on bibliographic research, this paper addresses the scientific advances admitted by Kardec in his writings on topics that were previously only in the religious domain - such as the evolution of species, the formation of the Earth, the possibility of life on other worlds, the Moon and satellites, the constitution of matter - as well as the main new developments from the 19th. century to the present. These advances show that Kardec was a man of his time, but with a progressive vision, open to new consolidated developments. This attitude gives directions about how he wished the progress and dissemination of Spiritism to occur all over the time.
